I thought of the idea of using a biased MOSFET instead of a transistor for thermal control of idle current. I wish that i had had a chance to test it in real life.

Run that amp with 10khz Square wave with no load connected...........................you will definately get smoke.

did you run this amp with 10khz square and burned up?

Why should you run this Mosfet amplifier w/o load? Mosfet tends to overheat and short w/o load connected.

Thats because they are more prone to oscillation.

However, a very good designed mosfet amp, will remain stable as a rock.
