Modifying existing smps for 24V out only.

Hi everyone

Please bear with me as I'm new to smps technology and design.

I have a few of the same switch mode power supplies with 5V and 24V output. I would like to make use of the 24V supply and take out the 5V supply and only keep the necessary components to make the 24V section work without the need of the 5V section. I have drawn a schematic of original design as well as a design which I tried doing away with the 5V section with the help of the pwm's datasheet (FA5510). Apologies if the schematic isn't as neat as possible.

I haven't had much success in getting it to work with the design advice with in the datasheet.

I have used the formula in the datasheet to determine the startup resistor and have used 2 220K resistors and do get 17V on the vcc terminal of the pwm.

I'm not sure what other tests I can do to determine why the smps isn't working or what other changes I can make to get the circuit working.

Please find attached the original design, the modification and the application schematic from the datasheet.

Many thanks
Claude
