An easy method to remove the ferrite core. Contact or even move to the core of the lamp series, and wait 1 minute. Use a minimum of 65W lamp. Remove the ferrite core heated smile.gif Be careful when!

Almost same technique. I use lacquer thinner instead of acetone.

.........I had no problems with big cores, small cores may crash is you over heat.
looks like you are confirming that some types of core, or sizes of core, can be affected by heat.

Can you or anyone else give us some guidance on maximum acceptable temperatures to avoid killing our cores?

I simply put it in heating water, eventually boiling if it is a cheap chinese Xformer. Otherwise I use the oven, heating it to aboutish 125 C and then the binding resins soften.
